Enjoyment or "The Like"

In today's society, we tend to want to be doing something at all times. Whether this is holding an iPhone and scrolling through instagram or getting outside and taking a hike, we always want to be doing something. The question of why we want to be doing something at all times has baffled me for many years and is popping up in my head even more frequently now. Do we want to be doing somethign because we like to, or because we want people to see that we are doing it.

As I sit on instagram and look through all of my friends pictures, it is a collage of their lives. We see where they went this past weekend and what they did, who they either went with or ran into, and how much fun they had. Only the good moments are captured on instagram and we rate how fun an experience was by seeing how many people wil double-tap our picture for that infamous like.

How do we know when someone is truly having the perfect life, or if they are only capturing the moment that will be envied by all, and hiding the rest of their life from the world. Every once in a while we run across an account that seems to be screaming for attention because of "artistic" photos of a girl not smiling or showing they are not happy. Is this account actually screaming for attention, or is this someone who finally decided to break down the wall and show how she is actually feeling?

We must find the balance within ourself to do thing for pure enjoyment again, that our body, mind and soul like. Not do things for the like.
